Lukas Turza (aka Brooklyn / Juanita Juarez) has been making music under different guises for a number of years now, and is a household name on the Czech independent music scene. Despite his young age, he has released on labels ranging majors – such as EMI Czech or Warner Music – through local independent labels Quazi Delict or Intellygent Records, to international labels. He released an artist album, vinyl singles, a number of remixes, and his music also features on many compilations.

At age 17, he won a remix competition and his tune was included in the soundtrack for the now classic Czech flick Samotari (Loners), which kickstarted his career as a music producer.

In 2003, he released his debut longplayer album on the local indie label Quazi Delict. The album, a mixture of style ranging from downtempo through drum & bass to IDM, gained recognition locally as well as abroad, and was shortly after nominated for the Czech Music Academy Awards in the electronica category for the year 2003.

Retrospectivelly, in 2005, a song off the album was nominated by the French Le Monde newspaper in their ‘QWARTZ independent electronic music competition’.

In 2003, he was invited to become one of the Red Bull Music Academy Students, and took part in a music worshkop held in Cape Town, South Africa.

Lukas has also embarked on other projects involving music. His songs have featured in a theatre play, and most recently in a movie soundtrack for the 2006 Czech-Finnish movie Restart.

He has also worked on commercial projects, having made many theme jingles for the Prague-based Radio 1, and briefly cooperated with an advertisement agency.

He is always keen to cooperate with fellow musicians; he’s collaborated with local vocal talents, as well as international artists from the UK, USA, Germany, Norway or Finland.

His most recent remix as Juanita Juarez has just been nominated the ‘Best remix of 2005’ by the most sold music magazine in the Czech Rep., F:LTER.

Forthcoming Brooklyn releases include “With All My Heart” due out on Norwegian Subtitles, “11201” on Nookie’s Phuzion Records, or “Stages”, remixed by Cambridge’s duo Commix, on UK’s Horizon’s Records.
